1973 Radio and 1977 Cake Decoration!

superman_73radio1
superman_73radio2

I'm not sure who thought of the idea of figural radios... I guess someone figured if figural bubble bath sells, it's a good idea to make figural everything! In 1973, both Superman and Batman got figural radios made of them.

superman_77wiltoncakecdecor

This Jay Leno-chinned Superman head was made by Wilton in 1977 intended as a cake decoration, I guess for those cake decorators who couldn't do faces that well. No idea what the size of this is.

Watches!

Here's some more Superman watches!

superman_70swatch2.jpg

This one seems to be a variation on the watch I posted a photo of yesterday!

superman_74watch.JPG

I believe this 1974 watch is a toy watch made by Marx Toys.

superman_77watch

1977 watch.

1967 Thermos and 1970s Watch!

superman_67thermos superman_67thermos.jpg

I don't know if this Thermos came with cup color variations, or if one seller substituted a cup from another Thermos for a missing one!

superman_70swatch.jpg

This is a very cool Superman watch! What can I say? I love Superman watches!

Comic Ads!

marvel_08_79_09

I told you the Kryptonite Rocks were advertised in the Marvel books! This ad appeared in the August, 1979 cover-dated Marvels.

marvel_08_79_16

This ad for Superman-themed Corgi vehicles came from the same month's Marvel books!

1966 Gumball Machine Stickers and

superman_66gumballstickers.jpg

Wow, the yellow-skinned alien looks a lot like Muto, who fought a future Superman, doesn't it?

superman_66puzzle

I recognize the villain from this 1966 puzzle, but aren't sure of his name... Brainstorm? I remember the helmet augmented his normal brain power...

1966 Enlargeagraph and Frame-Tray Puzzles!

superman_66enlargeagraph.JPG
superman_66traceagraph.JPG

Here's another of those toys designed to help kids learn to draw by tracing, from 1966!

superman_66frametrays

That's one nice-looking set of frame-tray puzzles there!

1960s Puzzles!

superman_65puzzle.JPG

This nice-looking frame-tray puzzle was produced in 1965!

superman_66_puzzle

This one came out in 1966 -- wish the photo was large enough we could see who's in the spaceship!

1964 Colorforms and 1965 Puzzle!

superman_64clorforms

I wish I had a photo of the insides of this 1964 Colorforms set!

superman_65puzzle

I like this 1965 puzzle... man, wouldn't it be great if someone reissued some collections of old Superman puzzles?

Golden Records Superman Club and 1960s Book!

superman_66clubrecord

Before Peter Pan came out with its Power Records imprint, Golden Records was the king of licensed record products, especially in the 1960s, with their own superhero records! This one was pretty neat, with all the club stuff in it!

superman_60swhitmanbook.JPG

The cover of this 1960s Superman book, published by Whitman, appears to have a Kurt Schaffenberger cover!

60s Paperback Book and Watch!

superman_60spaperback.JPG

Is it just me, or does the cover of this book look like a tracing of a Curt Swan figure, just not executed that well?

superman_60swatch1.jpg
superman_60swatch2.jpg

I love it that this 1960s-era Superman watch features a tiny Man of Steel flying in eternal circles (at least, while it's running)!

1957 Coloring Book and 1960s Melmac Cup!

superman_57coloringbook

This 1957 coloring book looks to be a reprint of the earlier one I posted!

superman_60smelmaccup

Looking at this picture, you know just as much about what a "Melmac Cup" is as I do. This must've been an early 60s item, although the style of art owes more to the 1950s.

1954 Lunchbox and Calling Superman Game!

superman_54lunch

Cool. I love the funky 1950s robot there!

superman_54transogramgame1.JPG
superman_54transogramgame2.JPG

I love this game, too... you can bet that there won't be any games coming out based on newspaper reporting again!

1946 Movie Viewer and 1947 Radio Show Records!

superman_46cinevuemovieview

Didn't I tell you movie viewers went back a ways? This 1946 edition has much nicer packaging than the one you'll see later from the late 1960s/early 1970s.

superman_47records

These records of radio show episodes from 1947 were certainly colorful, weren't they?

1940s Fabric and Tin Toy!

superman_40sfabric.jpg

Wish I could've afforded to bid on this vintage fabric... don't know what I would do with it, though!

superman_41windupmarx

This 1941 Marx wind-up tin toy is a classic! I think I've also seen a version of this with Popeye standing in for Superman (or is it the other way around)!

Superman III Game and Vintage Coloring Book!

superman_3game.jpg

I hope the Superman III game was more enjoyable than the movie was!

superman_40coloringbook

This 1940 coloring book is probably the oldest Superman coloring book I've seen offered on ebay!

From the 30s to the 70s Book and Watch!

superman_30sto70s.jpg

Man, one of my big regrets when I was selling my collectibles off to earn a living while I was out of work was parting with my copy of this book... I wish it would be re-issued, along with the Batman, Shazam! and Wonder Woman volumes!

superman_39watch.jpg

This 1939 watch may be one of the first merchandised Superman products!

Heroes World Catalog Pages!

Can you believe I have more pages from Heroes World Catalog #1 featuring Superman products to share? I guess you'll have to!

heroesworld1_32 heroesworld1_33 heroesworld1_34 heroesworld1_35

I've been hoping to come across that Superman tent on eBay!
